EXCLUSIVE VIP DAY AT PRESTWICK

150th Anniversary of the Open Championship

TRAVEL IS TRANSFORMATIONAL

All travel can be transformational, however, our golf tours can be life-altering too!

Oct 11th – Oct 23rd 2022

Scottsdale Collection has organized an exclusive Prestwick VIP day on October 18, 2022 for 36 lucky golfers to recreate golfing history and walk in the footsteps of Old Tom Morris and his son Tommy.

We have also created four separate itineraries around the VIP day at Prestwick that will enhance your experience of  Old Tom’s original 12-hole course. One of the four itineraries has been specifically tailored for the hickory golfer.

On 17 October 1860, eight golfers teed it up over the 12-hole links of Prestwick to play for a Challenge Belt of red Moroccan leather with a silver buckle. Little did they know that they were taking part in golf’s first Major Championship. A further 23 Open Championships were played over the links of Prestwick. Old Tom’s original 12-hole design was extended to 18 holes in 1882 to a layout which has only seen occasional changes since then. Six of the original greens from the 12-hole course are still in use today.

The 150th Open Championship will be held at St Andrews in July 2022. To celebrate this milestone in the history of the Open Championship, the Members of Prestwick Golf Club, as the Birthplace of the Open, are recreating Tom Morris’s original 12-hole design for a limited period in October 2022.

The Prestwick VIP Day will comprise:

  • Morning golf over the 12-hole course
  • Forecaddie for each foursome
  • A 3-course lunch in Prestwick’s famous Member’s Dining Room
  • A guided history tour of the Clubhouse and Club Archive
  • Afternoon golf over the 12-hole course
  • A commemorative bag tag
  • A limited edition commemorative course guide of the 12-hole course

Machrihanish dates back to 1876 and was designed by Old Tom Morris.

Irvine is a traditional links challenge and is one of Scotland’s hidden gems.

In regards to the four itineraries below, please note:

Note #1: If you want us to customize an itinerary for 2-4 people who prefer having a self-drive rental vehicle, just tell us the dates you’d like to travel and how many courses you would like to play. We can always build in rest days for sightseeing, whisky tasting, etc.

Note #2: We need a minimum of 6-8 golfers (can be golfers and non-golfing spouses/partners) for a coach and driver. Our coach company has a fleet of vehicles that can accommodate small groups right up to 36 travelers.

TESTIMONIALS

Thank you so much for organizing our amazing stay at St Andrews. We could not believe the views, great access, and lovely accommodations. We loved how close we were to The Dunvegan! What an amazing trip and wonderful vacation that we will be talking about for years. At least with our next trip to Scotland we “get it” now. What a great experience we had. Thank you for everything. Much appreciated!

~ Neal and Lindsey Steber, AZ

Thank you for helping me put together and go on the golf trip of a lifetime this past August. I still find myself daydreaming about St. Andrews, Castle Stuart, Turnberry, pubs, beautiful countryside, small towns, Dornoch Castle, and many other delightful places. I am hoping to put together an Ireland golf trip sometime in the next 3 years and will be in touch.

~ Jeff Groshell, WA

This was a perfect trip. I could write all day about how wonderful it all was. Everything I hoped for came true. I had no idea though that I would enjoy the other group members so much. I think starting with BIG Jim’s Birthday, everyone felt like we were old friends. It all seemed so personal.
Every detail of this trip was well thought out. We loved the people, the food, the hotels and castle. David so rarely travels and he is ready to go again. You made it all so easy.

~ Linda and David, CA

Kevin and Taba provided our group a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the luxury transportation to the golf and hotel arrangements, every last detail was taken care of and well organized. Ours was not an easy trip to organize because we played 15 rounds of golf in 10 days, all around Scotland, but Kevin and Taba made it easy on us. If anyone is considering a golf trip to Ireland or the U.K. we would unequivocally recommend having Kevin and Taba Dale craft the trip for them.

If the rate falls outside this bandwidth at the time of final payment (- 90 days from date of travel!), then the prices will either increase or decrease depending on whether the US$ weakens or strengthens in the meantime.

2. Above quotes are based on groups of 8 – 16 golfers traveling on each itinerary sharing a luxury coach and driver, with a limit of 36 golfers in total for all four itineraries. For the avoidance of any doubt, there is a limit of 36 golfers for the Special Day at Prestwick GC on October 18th, so the first 36 golfers to book any of the four itineraries get the spots at Prestwick GC.

4. All tee times and accommodations are subject to availability at time of booking. Quote is based on standard rooms at the listed hotels and in the event that only upgraded rooms are available, any upgrade fees will be passed on net without any additional mark-up to Scottsdale Collection/Legacy of the Links.

5. To confirm a booking, a non-refundable deposit of 35 – 40% of the package price (- say US$1,500.00 per person for golfers and $500.00 per person for non-golfers) will be required to pay the non-refundable deposits for green fees, hotels and coach hire. It is highly recommended that every person in the group takes out a Travel Insurance policy to cover them for trip cancellation for whatever reason and other pertinent risks.
