Curracloe Links is situated right next to the iconic Curracloe Beach in County WexfordCurracloe Links
The first of the two is Curracloe Links in County Wexford. The course is situated right next to the iconic Curracloe Beach, which was immortalized in the beach scenes in Steven Spielberg’s epic World War ll film, Saving Private Ryan.
Designed by the world renowned golf course architectural firm of Fry/Straka, this course is the first entirely new layout built on raw land in the Southeast of Ireland in over 100 years.
Curracloe Links is attached to the Ravenport Resort, a luxurious new Hotel & Spa owned by the Neville family, who also own the Druid’s Glen/Druid’s Heath golf resort in Wicklow.

Transformation of the former European Club as Brittas Bay Club is taking place.
Brittas Bay Club
The golf landscape of Ireland will transform again in 2027 when Brittas Bay Club opens in County Wicklow. The original links course designed by the highly-respected Pat Ruddy, started life as The European Club when it opened for play in 1992. It is now being reimagined by Kyle Phillips, who recognizes he will get to work his magic on a world-class property.
By the time our group plays the course, we will experience more sea vistas and the generous landing areas of firm fescue turf. Brittas Bay will continue to be a public daily fee facility, similar to the wildly popular Kingsbarns course in Scotland, also created by Phillips. Construction is being performed by Golf Link Evolve, whose previous work includes Royal Birkdale, The Old Course at St Andrews and Turnberry.
As part of the effort to embrace the ecosystem of the course, the club plans to donate a portion of every green fee to the preservation of the Tern, a bird that nests annually in Brittas Bay.

Notes:
1. The above costs are based on the current cost to purchase Euro with US$ of $1.20 covering the bandwidth of $1.18 – $1.22. If the rate falls outside this bandwidth at the time of final payment (- 90 days from date of travel!), then the costs will either increase or decrease depending on whether the US$ weakens or strengthens in the meantime.
2. Above quote is based on a group of 20 golfers (- including Kevin & Taba!!) traveling sharing a luxury coach and driver. Should 18 golfers not sign up for this Tour, then the transportation cost will increase per person.
3. The package price specifically excludes air fares, meals (- other than the Welcome and Farewell dinners and breakfast each morning!), caddies or buggies/pull carts, gratuity to driver, etc.
4. All tee times and accommodations are provisionally secured.
5. The prices are based on some 2027 rates but other 2027 rates for some clubs, accommodations and transportation will not be struck until later this year. However, any increases to the rates will be charged net to you without any additional mark-up to Scottsdale Collection.
6. To confirm a booking, a non-refundable deposit of 35 – 40% of the package price (- say US$3,000.00 per person/US$1,000.00 for non-golfers) will be required to pay the non-refundable deposits for green fees, hotels and coach hire. It is highly recommended that every person who books takes out a Travel Insurance policy to cover them for trip cancellation for whatever reason and other pertinent risks.

Jameson Golf Links
Originally designed by Bernard Langer, the Jameson Links course first opened for play in 1995. It is attached to and is owned by Portmarnock Resort, and sits side-by-side with the more famous links of Portmarnock Golf Club. A remodel in 2019 included elevating many tees and greens accentuating the views of the sea.
We love that the Jameson Links course also runs right along “The Velvet Strand” where the Southern Cross flight took off on June 24,1930. The Australian aviator, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith flew the historic east-to-west transatlantic flight to Newfoundland, Canada— completing a major milestone in global aviation. The resort was once the family home of the Jameson Dynasty and you can still see some of the original parts of the grand home when we stay there.

The Island Golf Club
The Island GC was founded in 1890 and it is a traditional private Members’ golf club. Like Portmarnock and County Louth, lucky for us, they do allow outside play. The Island is located on the middle of three estuary-barrier complexes— the most southerly barrier, which lies across the Baldoyle estuary is the home of Portmarnock Golf Club.
The original clubhouse, a quaint wood and corrugated-iron building, was situated on a site overlooking the estuary at Malahide. For over 80 years, the only way to get to the course was by rowboat. Don’t worry— the current clubhouse can accommodate all the modern golfers’ needs, including roads for our coach driver to get us there. Also, from October 2019- March 2020, The Island carried out an update of the front 9 with the changes having been designed by the highly respected firm of Ebert & McKenzie. The course is quirky, fun and challenging.

County Louth Golf Club
This links course is located in the village of Baltray in County Louth and we usually just refer to it as Baltray. A short time after the club was formed in 1892, a nine hole course was laid out on the seashore just three miles from Drogheda. It later expanded to a full 18-hole course before moving to its current links site. In 1938, the renowned golf architect Tom Simpson, assisted by Molly Gourlay, redesigned the course. Their layout remains largely unchanged to this day.
Baltray has hosted the East of Ireland Championship annually since 1941— a tournament famously won twelve times by the legendary Irish amateur, Joe Carr. The club further cemented its place in Irish golfing history when it hosted the Irish Open in 2004 and 2009. It is here in 2009 that Shane Lowry’s victory as an amateur catapulted him onto the world stage. The week after his win at Baltray, Shane elected to turn professional. Then, ten years later he won the Open Championship in 2019 at Royal Portrush, cementing his place in world golf history as the Champion Golfer of the Year. County Louth used to be considered a “hidden gem” but it isn’t any more.

Sightseeing Opportunities on Be The First Tour 2027
Many options for sightseeing in Dublin include the historic Dublin Castle, Book of Kells at Trinity College, the fascinating Guinness Storehouse, and the “Art Afternoon Tea” at the Merrion Hotel. A medieval town Drogheda, on the Boyne is the gateway to the world famous Boyne Valley region and the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Newgrange.
Dublin
When we are based in the Dublin area things to see and do include the historic Dublin Castle in the city center and Ireland’s greatest cultural treasure, the Book of Kells at Trinity College.
You can also take in the Guinness Storehouse and/or the original site of the Jameson Distillery on Bow St. where there is a heritage museum and visitor center.
One thing I have organized before is the “Art Afternoon Tea” at the Merrion Hotel. Very delicious. Very decadent.
From there you can visit The National Gallery of Ireland nearby on Merrion Square West.
Waterford
When we go to Curracloe Links and stay at the Ravenport Resort in Wexford we are only one hour away from Waterford. Here you can explore the fascinating Viking history of Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city.
At The House of Waterford Crystal you can tour the active local workshop and see live glass-blowing and cutting.
Drogheda
If you want to stay closer to County Louth GC, a visit to Drogheda is a good option. The medieval town sits on the River Boyne. While it may be the gateway to some of Ireland’s most important historical sites, there is plenty to see in the town itself.
Along with a quirky museum surrounded by indie craft shops, there is Highlanes Municipal Art Gallery set within a repurposed old church building for contemporary art exhibits.
There are numerous cafés, restaurants and gastropubs to choose from where you can grab a tasty bite to eat or a pint of Guinness.
The massive St. Laurence’s Gate is widely regarded as one of the finest medieval town gates in Europe.
Newgrange
The day the itinerary takes the golfers to County Louth Golf Club at Baltray, we are only 22 miles, or probably less than 1/2 hour to Newgrange. This is a perfect time to experience the massive
Stone Age passage tomb which is a UNESCO World Heritage landmark. Built around 3200 BC, it is older than both Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids.
