GOLF & MUSIC TOUR – IRELAND, SUMMER 2024

Golf & Music Tour 2024 is now SOLD OUT

TRAVEL IS TRANSFORMATIONAL

All travel can be transformational, however, our golf trips can be life-altering too!

Join Paul Carroll and the Begley Brothers for the 2024 Golf and Music Tour to N & E Ireland!

Play some of the great links courses in Ireland and the world, with music and “craic” every evening in the pubs along the way!

Finish up the trip with a great “finale” concert at Portmarnock Links.

We are thrilled to be going on another exciting Golf & Music Tour in 2024! This time, we will be playing three of the most iconic “links” courses in Northern Ireland, namely Portstewart, Royal Portrush and Royal County Down.

Portstewart Golf Club must always be included in any trip to Northern Ireland. It was founded in 1894 and now boasts three courses. We will play the Championship Strand Course that was the host for the 2017 Irish Open, won by Jon Rahm.

The Dunluce Course at Royal Portrush, ranked #15 in the World’s Top 100 Courses by GOLF Magazine, will be hosting the Open Championship again in 2025, after the hugely successful staging of the Open in 2019 won by our home hero, Shane Lowry. It is Kevin’s favorite “links” course in the world, so that’s saying a lot!

Royal County Down is perennially ranked in the top 10 courses in the world on any list and currently #6 in GOLF Magazine’s World Rankings. RCD was founded in 1889, and was designed by Old Tom Morris. It was then redesigned by Harry Vardon and in 1925 Harry Colt was asked to make improvements. His alteration of the 9th hole has resulted in it being one of the most photographed holes in world golf.

We then travel down to the Dublin area where we first play another “Royal” club, Royal Dublin. Founded in 1885, Royal Dublin is steeped in history and was originally designed by the renowned architect, H.S. Colt. In the early 2000’s, the club enlisted the “links” design expert, Martin Hawtree, to make significant changes that have been critically acclaimed. The Head Professional at Royal Dublin for over 50 years was none other than “Himself”, Christy O’Connor Sr., easily Ireland’s most successful Professional of the previous century.

Next up is a visit to The Island GC, a true “links” course on the north Dublin coastline. Established in 1890, The Island Golf Club enjoys a unique setting bordered by sea on 3 sides. A classic links course set in rugged dunes terrain along the east coast. Only 15 minutes from Dublin Airport and 30 minutes from Dublin City Centre, The Island is favourably located in the remote and tranquil Estuary of Donabate & Malahide.

The following day, we will visit the foremost “hidden gem” of classic links courses. County Louth Golf Club, or Baltray as it’s known locally, was a vision of a Scotsman, Thomas Gilroy who had a profound influence on the development of golf in Ireland.  Gilroy laid out the first links at Baltray in the Spring of 1892 and following the foundation of County Louth Golf Club in October that year he was elected the first Captain of the Club. The course was modified to a large extent when Tom Simpson and his assistant, Molly Gourlay, redesigned the course in 1938 but so successful were the alterations made at this time, the course remains relatively unchanged today. Noted in Irish golfing circles for the quality of its greens, visitors to County Louth are often perplexed that a links of such quality should have a rather modest international profile, hence the “hidden gem” tag.

Finally, we will visit the much-acclaimed Bernhard Langer designed Portmarnock Links that is attached to the Portmarnock Hotel. The course has recently gone through a series of extensive renovations and is now considered one of the finest “links” courses in the country. To top off the fun week, our entertaining musicians will give a concert in the Portmarnock Links clubhouse following dinner.

TESTIMONIALS

This was a perfect trip. I could write all day about how wonderful it all was. Everything I hoped for came true. I had no idea though that I would enjoy the other group members so much. Every detail of this trip was well thought out. We loved the people, the food, the hotels and castle. David so rarely travels and he is ready to go again. You made it all so easy.

Kevin and Taba provided our group a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the luxury transportation to the golf and hotel arrangements, every last detail was taken care of and well organized. Ours was not an easy trip to organize because we played 15 rounds of golf in 10 days, all around Scotland, but Kevin and Taba made it easy on us. If anyone is considering a golf trip to Ireland or the U.K. we would unequivocally recommend having Kevin and Taba Dale craft the trip for them.

We did not really know what to expect on our SW Tour to Ireland, but the group you assembled was unbelievable and we all ended up with 20+ new best friends. Your own efforts into ensuring that everything ran smoothly was there for all to see. Bonnie and I cannot wait to return again next year and we plan to talk to many of our golfing friends to see if they will join us. Ireland is a magical place and we are both hooked. We really didn’t believe you when you told us last year in Florida that once we came to Ireland we would want to come again and again. To be honest, we didn’t want to leave! Roll on next September!

We all made it without a drop of rain save for some beautiful Irish Mist at Waterville, and with a lot of laughs (best medicine), Guinness and great Irish food. Good food and no rain!!! Who’d believe it was Ireland? We certainly jelled as a group without, I hope, infringing on things each wanted to do and we played just the best of the best that SW Ireland has to offer in golf. And what a team we encountered with the Kevin McGrath organization. While some of us kissed the Blarney Stone, the rest were kissing the rim of a glass of Jameson on that triple distilled tour, minus the gunpowder. As the old guy in the group, I don’t have a lot of years remaining to do these trips but ‘try me’ for Northern Ireland or Scotland in a couple of years!
